Spring Webinar - The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act
Thursday, June 7, 2018

Presented by Lee David Medinets, Esq., CES®, this webinar will cover many of the interesting and important changes to Section 1031 resulting from the 2017 Tax Act.  It will delve into many aspects of the Act that may have an impact on your clients and their exchanges.  This will not be a duplicate of the FEA’s GAC Tax Act presentation in April.

Some of the topics covered will include:
  • Revision of § 1031 and its impact on real world exchanges
  • Changes to § 168 depreciation (including 100% bonus depreciation of “qualified real property improvements)
  • Impact of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act on cost segregation
  • Understanding how § 199A works
  • The § 1061 holding period for promoted interests and its effect on interpreting § 83
  • End of partnership technical termination under § 708(b)(1)(B)
The webinar will be presented by Lee David Medinets, Esq.  David is a frequent speaker about Section 1031 issues as well as tax aspects of real estate.  He is the Chief Counsel of Madison Commercial Real Estate Services, LLC and Madison Exchange, LLC.

The FEA is making every effort to keep the cost as low as possible to make these webinars affordable for everyone.  Education is critical to the long-term success of the CES® designation and our industry.  The cost per credit hour is just $39 for CES Designees and $45 for all others.

Important information for CES® Designees:

  • This webinar is pre-approved for one (1) CES® credit hour.
  • If you are seeking CES® credit, you must register and participate individually.  Multiple Designees in one office must register separately to receive the credit hour.
  • A representative of the CES® Council will be present on each webinar and will track the attendance of participants.  The roster of attendees will be provided to the CES® Council so the credit hour can be logged in the records of the individual Designees.
  • For Designees with a renewal period ending 12/31/18, the CES® Certification Council requires a minimum of 12 credit hours be earned through live, in-person learning.  FEA-sponsored webinars qualify as live, in-person learning.

For additional information on the webinars and your CES® renewal or continuing education requirements, please contact Kelly Pearl, CES® Certification Council CE Committee Chair, at kelly.pearl@calbt.com.
